The running track, featuring Medium Grey, Grey and Bright Green, combines sports performance characteristics with a modern appearance. A special feature of the facility is the softer, specially developed circular running track in the infield, which provides athletes with more joint-friendly conditions for warm-ups and endurance training.

The athletics center in Frankfurt-Niederrad is a national training center of the German Athletics Association (DLV), serving both elite and youth athletes. DLV athletes use the facility to prepare for national and international competitions. As part of the extensive modernization project, the facility was adapted to meet the requirements of competitive athletics and officially reopened on June 10, 2025.

REGUPOL champion AG – Running Track Surface for Competitive Athletics

The REGUPOL champion AG running track surface was installed across a total area of 9,635 m² in Medium Grey, Grey and Bright Green. The color combination gives the athletics facility a distinctive appearance and provides clear visual separation of the different sports areas.

A key quality feature of the track system is the industrially prefabricated, elastic REGUPOL base mat. It forms the functional foundation of the surface and plays a significant role in the track's sports performance characteristics. Controlled manufacturing under consistent production conditions ensures uniform material quality and defined layer thicknesses. This enables consistent shock absorption and a uniform running experience across the entire surface.

Combined with the seamlessly applied, spike-resistant and slip-resistant EPDM surface layer, the result is a durable running track system designed to meet the requirements of daily training and competition.

Specially Developed Circular Track for Joint-Friendly Training

A special feature of the Frankfurt athletics center is located in the infield of the facility. An additional circular running track, known as "Lane Zero", has been installed with a specially developed, softer running track surface.

Compared to the regular competition track, this customized surface offers greater cushioning. As a result, impact forces during running are absorbed more gently, reducing stress on the joints. This provides middle- and long-distance runners in particular with an additional training surface for extended running sessions.

The circular track is also used by athletes from various disciplines for warm-ups and preparation before training sessions. The softer running track surface therefore complements the regular REGUPOL champion AG competition track and expands the training opportunities available at the national training center.

Training Conditions for National and International Competitions

The modernization of the athletics center has expanded the training opportunities available to DLV athletes. In addition to the renewed running tracks, the facility now includes additional sprint tracks with varying gradients as well as upgraded facilities for jumping and throwing disciplines.

The combination of the REGUPOL champion AG running track and the specially developed warm-up track makes it possible to accommodate different training requirements within a single sports facility. The athletics center therefore provides suitable conditions for both daily training and preparation for international competitions.

The project in Frankfurt demonstrates how REGUPOL uses its running track systems to meet different sports performance requirements and develop customized solutions for competitive athletics.
