Lohrheidestadion in Bochum-Wattenscheid is one of Germany's established athletics venues. As part of the extensive modernization of the Lohrheide Sports Park, the stadium was equipped with a new REGUPOL running track in 2025. Since its reopening, the venue has provided suitable conditions for national and international athletics competitions.

The REGUPOL champion AG running track surface was installed across a total area of 8,725 m². The combination of Capri Blue and Medium Grey gives the facility a modern, distinctive appearance and blends harmoniously with the stadium's overall design.
A key quality feature of the track system is the industrially prefabricated, elastic REGUPOL base mat. It forms the functional foundation of the surface and plays a significant role in the track's sports performance characteristics. Controlled manufacturing under consistent production conditions ensures uniform material quality and defined layer thicknesses. This enables consistent shock absorption and a uniform running experience across the entire surface.
Combined with the seamlessly applied, spike-resistant and slip-resistant EPDM surface layer, the result is a durable running track system designed to meet the demands of competitive athletics. International Competitions on REGUPOL
Shortly after its completion in summer 2025, the new running track became the stage for major sporting events. The German U18 and U20 Athletics Championships marked the beginning. Just a few days later, the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games brought an international sporting event to the stadium, with athletes from around the world competing for medals at Lohrheidestadion.
In 2026, the stadium once again became a focal point for German athletics. In addition to the German Youth Athletics Championships, the German Athletics Championships for men and women took place on July 25 and 26. The REGUPOL running track once again provided the setting for national athletics competitions.
