REGUPOL receives the Efficiency Award NRW
At the ninth award ceremony since the inception of the Efficiency Award, the jury awarded the Honorary Prize for the first time last Wednesday. "REGUPOL's submission with its striking commitment to resource efficiency impressed the jury, so that they decided to recognise the company with an honorary award which had not been foreseen in the original call for entries," the statement reads.
From a total of 70 entrants, the Efficiency Agency selected five winners of the prize, which is endowed with a total of 20,000 euros. NRW Environment Minister Ursula Heinen-Esser, who presented the award in person at the German Sports and Olympic Museum in Cologne, emphasised: "Almost all of the company's products are based on recovered and recycled polymer raw materials – that's the future!"
With such products, based for example on SBR rubber, polyurethane foams or EPDM, REGUPOL was able to establish itself successfully on the market more than 65 years ago. The proportion of the above-mentioned raw materials in most REGUPOL products is between 75 and 95 percent – the company thus processes more than 90,000 tonnes of recycled elastomers per year, making a major contribution to the resource-efficient use of valuable raw materials. "This business model makes the family-owned company a pioneer in the recycling of secondary raw materials. REGUPOL will receive the first honorary prize in the history of the Efficiency Award for its long-term and sustainable entrepreneurial achievements," explains jury chairman Bernd Draser.
In addition to the honorary prize, the jury of experts awarded three main prizes and one special prize this year.
